Steel Ghost
Behind the Camera - Steel Ghost
"Steel Ghost" was one of those moments I had envisioned long before setting foot in Iceland—standing before the legendary DC-3 plane wreck resting silently on the endless black sands of Sólheimasandur Beach. But reaching it was no small task. It required a long, freezing walk in the dark, with no one else around—just the sound of the wind and the crunch of my boots across the volcanic desert.
I waited for hours, hoping the Aurora Borealis would make an appearance. Just as I was about to leave, a faint green glow of the northern lights stretched across the horizon. I set up my tripod quickly, adjusted for long exposure, and tried to keep perfectly still. The ghostly fuselage, battered by decades of storms, stood in stark contrast to the ethereal movement in the sky.
This Limited Edition fine art photograph captures more than an abandoned wreck—it’s about silence, survival, and the poetry of light meeting history in one of the most surreal landscapes on Earth. Moments like these are why I carry my camera into the wild: to transform solitude into timeless imagery.
