Photographing the Places That Stay With Me

Hi, I’m Ivan Baxarias — a chef for most of my life, and a photographer driven by travel, light, and the need to keep exploring.

After more than 25 years in professional kitchens, creating dishes, leading teams, and chasing precision on every plate, photography became a different kind of craft for me. Less noise. More space. A way to step outside, slow down, and pay attention.

I’ve road-tripped across 21 countries in Europe, explored more than 20 U.S. National Parks, crossed deserts, hiked through rainforests, wandered through moody coastlines, frozen my hands in Iceland, and followed light through cities, canyons, mountains, and quiet roads.

Photography became my way to make sense of it all. It is how I collect emotions, places, and moments that would otherwise disappear. I’m drawn to landscapes and scenes that feel vast, quiet, dramatic, textured, or slightly forgotten — places that make you stop for a second longer.

My style is instinctive and emotional, but always intentional. I’m drawn to strong contrasts, natural textures, imperfect symmetry, subtle color, and the tension between stillness and movement. Whether I’m using a camera, drone, or phone, I’m looking for the same thing: a feeling worth keeping.

Through BaxPhotos, I share fine art photography prints created from real places, real journeys, and real moments. Some pieces are released as limited editions, while others are open edition prints selected for the way they carry mood, place, and memory.

Whether you’re here to find artwork for your home, discover a new place, or simply escape for a few minutes — thank you for being here.

Let’s stay curious.
