Impressionist Birds
AWARDED & EXHIBITED WORK
Impressionist Birds is one of the most recognized works in the BaxPhotos collection. Photographed along the shoreline in Alameda, California, this image captures a fleeting coastal moment where birds, water, movement, and reflection come together with an almost painterly quality.
The photograph was awarded Best Nature Photo 2025 at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts during AOC California 2025. It has also been exhibited at the Montreal Art Center & Museum with the Global Art League, at Frame 1A Gallery in Alameda, California, and as part of the Ocean Photographer of the Year exhibition presented by the West End Arts District in Alameda.
For me, this piece represents what I search for in fine art photography: a real moment that feels quiet, unexpected, and slightly unreal.

AN ARTIST’S NOTE
I do not photograph only to document where I have been. I photograph to understand what made me stop.
The works selected for exhibitions, photography events, and juried shows are often the images that first made me pause in the field: birds moving across the water, a quiet structure at low tide, fog softening the city, or color appearing for only a few seconds before disappearing.
That is what I value most in fine art photography — the brief moment when something ordinary becomes a lasting visual memory.
