Mars on Earth

from $35.00

Shortlisted — The Motif Collective, Landscape Competition, February 2025

Mars on Earth is an aerial black-and-white photograph of Long Dong Silver. A solitary rock spire rises above textured desert terrain, casting a long shadow across the ground.

Behind the Camera — Mars on Earth

I photographed this scene with my drone in the afternoon light. From above, the spire and its shadow stood out against the surrounding terrain, and that relationship became the focus of the composition.

In black and white, the shapes and textures are easier to see. The landscape looked unfamiliar from this perspective, which is what gave me the idea for the title Mars on Earth.
