Behind the Shot – Place El Haouta

Place El Haouta is a fine art photography print from my trip to Morocco, captured in one of the most recognizable corners of the Blue Pearl, Chefchaouen.

Located inside the medina of Chefchaouen, the Blue City, Place El Haouta is known for its small central fountain, blue-painted buildings, patterned details, and quiet village atmosphere. What stood out to me was the mix of color and texture: the intense blue walls, the white decorative patterns, the red roof tiles, the stone pavement, and the worn surfaces that show the history of the place.

This photograph is not only about the famous blue color of Chefchaouen. It also captures the character of Moroccan architecture — simple, detailed, imperfect, and full of life. The scene feels calm but visually rich, with layers of blue, white, terracotta, and stone creating a strong sense of place.
