Behind the Shot - Sediment Study No.3

I photographed Sediment Study No.3 from above after a long off-road drive into Utah’s Bentonite Hills. I launched the drone looking for the point where color, erosion, and texture came together most clearly.

From the air, the terrain looked less like a landscape and more like an abstract painting: mineral tones, pale channels, and scattered dark stones shaped entirely by time.

This photograph is part of my Sediment Study Series, created from real aerial landscapes I personally explored and photographed. Its muted earth tones work especially well in modern and neutral interiors.
